We believe that everyone is different. Children of all ages deserve the opportunity to learn! Although we recommend children start learning to play guitar at ages 7 or older, we are definitely happy to help you decide if your youngster is ready to learn new skills.

If you feel like your young child has an interest in guitar or want to get them started learning to play an instrument early, simply call us to discuss your options. We even offer discounted trial lessons! That way, you can observe how your child does and decide whether they can move forward learning guitar early.

For trial lessons, we are happy to offer a 50% discount for as many teachers/instruments as you’d like your young child to test. No obligations!

While it is always nice to own your own guitar, we can provide you with one to use for lessons if need be. Keep in mind that until someone owns their own guitar and can practice regularly at home, improvement is likely to be slow. Talk to us about instrument starter packages!

There is no correct answer to this question. Learning on an electric guitar is slightly easier although acoustic instruments build strength and dexterity. The strings tend to be lower to the board and require less muscle to play on an electric guitar.

 With that being said, learning on an acoustic guitar builds strength in your hands and wrists. Acoustic guitars are a little bit more portable as well. Overall, it is best to learn to play using the type of guitar that you ultimately plan to play the most!

The question is very subjective. It will depend on how much you practice, whether you have a natural aptitude for the guitar, how fruitful practice sessions are, and if you are willing to commit to a regular practicing routine.

 Progress is usually directly correlated to time spent practicing. However, forcing practice can cause backsliding. To get the most benefit, we recommend having a skilled guitar teacher work out a customized schedule with each student.

Yes! All of our lessons are private and one-on-one with an experienced guitar teacher located near Calabasas. Each lesson is customized to the student’s needs and goals.

We can even combine the two. If you want to have one-off online lesson and one in-person lesson for whatever reason, we can arrange it!

No. A student will need  to reach a certain guitar skill level before they can join the live performances or bands.

That being said we do try to get our musicians involved in live performances and bands as early on as possible. At SoundCheck Music School we believe that the best learning experience comes from playing music with other musicians.
